Isle
of Skye Productions takes an active role in the community
to co ordinate as well as sponsor special events. The special
events area of the Isle of Skye Productions portfolio
began when singer/songwriter Robin Moir was
asked to co ordinate talent for CBC television’s CHEO
telethon and subsequently the Heart Institute Telethon in the
early 1990’s. Through her many music industry contacts
Robin was able to help create television specials with tremendous
Canadian talent on board; talent like Alanis, Wayne
Rostad, The Five Man Electrical Band, Rich Little and many
more.
For the past ten years Robin has worked with a
committed team along with host Wayne Rostad to put together the
magical pre Christmas outdoor street concert in Almonte, Ontario called Light Up The Night. Traditionally held on the first Friday
in December, Light UpThe Night draws
more than 7000 people from all across the Ottawa Valley to
the main street of Almonte to ring in the Christmas season.
Another Christmas event that takes to
the airwaves, the first Saturday in December, to raises money
for the Christmas Exchange, is CFRA radio’s Christmas Cheer
Broadcast. Robin Moir and Joe Turner have been part of this event
for the past 20 years, singing and playing Christmas songs while
a host of celebrity guests, musicians and singers join forces
with CFRA to raise money for this worthwhile charity. The following
Friday CFRA in association with The Westin Hotel, hosts the Christmas
Cheer Breakfast and Robin works with them to put together the
wonderful breakfast for all the movers and shakers around town.
Celebrities dish out the breakfast and talent takes to the stage
to keep everyone entertained!
